Terms. Plain ones, for a plain site.
These terms cover your use of ownthecode.dev and of the free chapter it sends. They are written in plain language, because the site is. Last updated 3 September 2026.
A site run by one operator, offering information.
ownthecode.dev is run by its operator, who can be reached at connect@ownthecode.dev. Reading the site is free and asks nothing of you. Sending your address through the form means you accept these terms and the privacy notice.
What the site provides is information: an argument about owning the code you ship to clients, a five-part test for judging platforms, and a free chapter of a playbook. It is not legal, financial or professional advice. Decisions about your platforms, your clients and your business remain yours.
The escape pages describe what a named platform’s own documentation said on a stated date, with a link to it. Documentation changes — check it before you act on it.
Provided as it is, for your own use.
The free chapter is sent in exchange for an email address and is provided as it is. You may read it, run the checks it describes on your own projects, and disagree with any of it.
It is not sold, and nothing in it is promised to fit your build, your hosting or your clients. Whether a check belongs in your gate is your call; the chapter explains ours.
Copying the chapter for resale, or presenting it as your own work, is not permitted.
Nothing here is guaranteed, and nothing is hidden.
The site and the chapter are provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. That includes any warranty that the information is accurate, complete, current, or fit for a particular purpose.
The operator is not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the site or the chapter, including loss of margin, clients, data or time, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.
Errors are corrected when found. If you find one, connect@ownthecode.dev is the place to send it.
Outbound links are references, not endorsements.
Pages that describe a named platform link to that platform’s documentation. Those links leave this site. What you find there is governed by that site’s terms, not these, and a link is a citation rather than a recommendation.
The site’s own text, code and design belong to the operator of ownthecode.dev unless stated otherwise. Quoting from it with attribution is welcome. Copying pages wholesale is not.
Dated when they change, answered when you write.
These terms change when the site does. The date at the top of this page moves with them, and the version published here is the one that applies.
Questions about these terms, the privacy notice or the chapter go to connect@ownthecode.dev. Where any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still stands.
